Frequently asked questions

Does every industry need the same Digital Product Passport data?

No. The EU ESPR framework defines category-specific field requirements — a battery passport covers chemistry and capacity, while an apparel passport covers fiber composition and care instructions. PassoNext provides a pre-built field template for each supported industry, so you start from the right fields instead of building from scratch.

PassoNext’s passport builder supports custom field sets for any physical product, even outside the pre-built industry templates. Start from the closest matching template and add or remove fields as needed.

Requirements phase in by product category. Batteries, apparel, washing appliances, textiles, fashion, construction materials, electronics, and footwear lead the rollout in 2027, furniture follows in 2028, chemicals, cosmetics, mattresses, and plastics in 2029, and toys in 2030. Each industry page lists its current expected date.
