When exactly does the DPP requirement apply to my product?
The revised Construction Products Regulation (EU 2024/3110) is already in force, but it introduces DPP obligations gradually — specific deadlines are set product family by product family through future delegated acts, several of which are still being finalised. Rather than guess a single date, we’d recommend checking the European Commission’s current CPR implementation timeline for your specific product category before treating any date as fixed.
Is a DPP different from my Declaration of Performance (DoP)?sport cover the whole piece or each component separately?
They’re closely linked but not the same. Your DoP is the formal document required under CPR that states a product’s essential characteristics against a harmonised standard. A DPP is a scannable, structured passport aimed at a broader audience — contractors, inspectors, demolition crews — that surfaces the relevant DoP data alongside sustainability information the DoP doesn’t cover, like embodied carbon.
Do I still need CE marking if I have a DPP?
Yes. CE marking and the Declaration of Performance remain the legal basis for placing a construction product on the EU market. The DPP doesn’t replace either — it makes that same conformity data scannable and accessible over the life of the building, long after the physical CE mark may have worn off or been covered.
Does this apply to online sellers on Shopify?
Yes. CPR applies to any economic operator placing construction products on the EU market, including e-commerce and Shopify sellers. If you ship drywall, cement, steel, or brick to EU customers or trade buyers through your store, you’ll need a valid passport for each product as the relevant delegated act comes into effect.
Is an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) the same as a DPP?
No, but they overlap. An EPD is a standardised, third-party-verified report on a product’s environmental impact, typically covering embodied carbon and other life-cycle indicators. A DPP references your EPD where one exists and adds it to the same scannable record as your DoP, technical specifications, and circularity data.
