The EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation introduces digital labelling and recyclability requirements that phase in by category over the coming years, on top of the already-established Single-Use Plastics Directive and REACH microplastics restriction. Rather than commit to one date, we’d recommend checking the current PPWR implementation schedule for your specific product and packaging type before treating any deadline as fixed.

A DPP builds on that same code but adds recycled content percentage, substance safety data, and sorting instructions in a structured, scannable format, rather than a single static symbol.

The EU’s REACH restriction on intentionally added microplastics phases in bans across specific product categories over time, such as certain loose glitter, granular infill, and some cosmetic microbeads. If your product falls into a restricted category, that compliance status is a required field in the passport’s Chemical Safety category.
