When does the DPP requirement apply to chemical products?
Is a DPP different from my Safety Data Sheet (SDS)?
They’re closely related but not the same. Your SDS is a 16-section document required under REACH for professional and industrial use. A DPP is a scannable, structured passport aimed at a broader audience — buyers, retailers, and consumers — that surfaces the most relevant SDS data alongside sustainability information the SDS doesn’t cover. PassoNext links your full SDS to the passport rather than replacing it.
Does this apply to online sellers on Shopify?
Yes. ESPR applies to any economic operator placing products on the EU market, including e-commerce and Shopify sellers. If you ship adhesives, fertilisers, or consumer chemical products to EU customers through your store, you’ll need a valid passport for each product regardless of channel.
What is a UFI code, and do I need one for the passport?
A Unique Formula Identifier (UFI) is a 16-character code required under CLP for hazardous mixtures, linking a product to its Poison Centre Notification. If your product already carries a UFI, PassoNext links it directly to the passport so emergency responders and buyers reach the same record from either code.
Who is responsible if I reformulate a product?
The manufacturer or formulator making the change is responsible for updating the substance composition, hazard classification, and any affected REACH or Poison Centre records. PassoNext reflects the update in the live passport immediately — the QR code on existing packaging keeps working without a relabel.
